  1. Accor is introducing its digital key, thanks to a partnership with STAYmyway.
  2. Agoda launched GoLocal Tonight, to help “hotel and accommodation partners to access these travellers and utilise inventory that would otherwise remain unused. In exchange, Agoda travellers receive further discounts of up to 30% of their accommodation reservations.”

  4. Wyndham Destinations (spun off from Wyndham Hotels and Resorts) acquired Travel + Leisure for $100 million. It will start trading under the TNL symbol next month.
  5. OYO raised $7.4M as part of a Series F round from Hindustan Media Ventures.
  6. Hopin acquired the streaming platform StreamYard (the one I use for Digital. webcasts) for $250 Million.
  7. trivago acquired weekend.com, “a startup focused on finding travelers inspirational weekend getaway packages.”
  8. YouTube is testing a new feature, allowing viewers to buy products seen in videos. So far, the experiment is only on a small circle of users in the US, but it could be rolled out soon to other countries. This could easily apply to hotels as well, so that a YouTube user could book a hotel seen on a video with just one click.
  9. Tesla surpasses Facebook, and it’s now the fifth most valuable company in the U.S. In another news, Elon Musk is now the richest person in the world, topping Jeff Bezos with a net worth of $188.5 billion.
  10. Sabre Corporation will pay $2.4 million as a settlement for the 2017 data breach to SynXis Central Reservation System, which involved 1.3 million credit cards.
