  1. Pfizer announced its coronavirus vaccine is more than 90% effective, according to an initial review of Phase III trial data.
  2. Booking Holdings’ room nights in Q3 were down 43% YoY, versus 82% YoY in Q2. According to the CEO, Glenn Fogel, however, “it will be very challenging for us to reach profitability in Q4.”
  3. A similar trend for Tripadvisor: “Our third-quarter results improved versus the second quarter in the midst of what has been an unprecedented period for our industry, and the world,” said Chief Executive Officer Steve Kaufer.
  4. Expedia revenue fell by 58%, the third consecutive quarterly contraction but, according to the CEO, Peter Kern, “taking into account the impact COVID is having on travel, our financial performance was better than we expected

  6. According to an Amadeus study, 2/3 of airlines, hotels, and travel agencies will not be ready to meet the new SCA deadline of December 31, 2020.
  7. Marriott's security breach fine has been reduced from £99 million to £18 million.
  8. Prestige Software is the company behind OTAs such as Booking.com and Expedia, and it suffered a data breach that left data exposed for over 10 million of guests. Data include names, credit card details, ID numbers, and reservation details.
  9. ITB Berlin 2021 will be entirely virtual and it will take place from 9 to 12 March 2021.
